Why are we noticing more individuality appear in teams?
In such a short period of time we have seen teams move from firefighting and cutting back to reinvention and re-configuration. We are experiencing extremes, sometimes we are part of brilliant collaborative efforts to problem solve, motivate and co-create and other times we are driven to real frustration, apathy and self-survival.
One CEO said of his team this week “hunkering down to what they are good at is pulling people apart”. Understandable and normal. In stressful times we all revert back to the things we are good at and certainly the parts of our role that give us the most energy and satisfaction. So throw in the added dimension of remote working and you get a heightened experience of silo working and team weariness.
We have successfully used the business insight tool PROPHET for a number of years to give teams tangible and practical insight into the trends and preference patterns that can fast-track or stall performance.
Built around a business cycle, PROPHET quickly reveals a teams’ motivation and decision making preferences, it highlights where there are competing priorities and the visual Heat Map gives a snapshot of where the teams’ preferred contribution to critical business activities are (coloured red) and where there might be gaps (coloured blue).
Working with one exec teams’ Heat Map revealed the teams’ preference for troubleshooting and creating new initiatives. They were incredibly responsive to the crisis, driven and decisive in the plan, finding it easy to generate enthusiasm and followership. They then started to loose ground, inconsistencies and confusion crept in and they were struggling to ensure everyone was on the same page.
PROPHET gave them valuable insight into spotting and understanding this and helped them align and collaborate on generating actions to mitigate the risks.
We are now able to offer PROPHET to your teams virtually so if you want to get a sense of what might be behind the brilliance and the not so brilliant right now, PROPHET reveals the aha moment you can generate action and momentum from.
So whether, you are working around the world, round your kitchen table or at either ends of your office – gather together for a powerful insight session that you will find valuable for business strategy planning and execution way beyond the immediacy of the here and now.
