Why do you do what you do?
Organisations and their teams have had no option but to pivot, adapt and firefight over the past 18 months. The focus has been very firmly placed on the “WHAT’; the goals needed and the “HOW”; dramatically changing the processes in order achieve those goals.
There is no wonder therefore teams and their members are experiencing weariness and burnout. Many are reporting having lost their sense of the “WHY”.
“We have lost our mojo”
Motivations are our inner drivers determining how we feel and how we act. They are part of our why. They are a dynamic and changing state – we feel more or less motivated at different times and with different circumstances. So having an awareness of what motivates us and how we can boost our own motivations as well as those of the team connects everyone back to their WHY?
What’s Your Why?
Each of us have different motivators – for some it is security or a sense of belonging for others it is being an expert or driving innovation or change. Here are 9 work based motivators from research carried out on human motivation by experts at Motivational Maps.
